Esophageal Foreign Body with Esophageal Perforation

Abstract
The authors experienced an. unusual case of the esophageal foreign body with the esophageal perforation.
A 8-month-old boy swallowed a long. (about 20 cm). thick (about 3 mm in diameter) wire, which had a hooked end. The hooked end was lodged into the lateral wall of the first esophageal narrowing on X-ray films. There was swelling on the left lateral aspect of the neck with crepitus and the another end of the wire was out of his mouth.
As it was. considered that the foreign body could¢¥nt be removed by the esophagoscopy the hooked end was cut and removed with the lateral incision of ¢¥the neck and the, remainder was removed by the esophagoscopy.
After removal of the foreign body, nothing was given by mouth and the patient was feed through nasogastric tube for about 4 weeks, and the perforated esophagus was healed without any complication.
